This young stallion has very exciting eventing bloodlines, being sired by a Badminton winner (Chilli Morning – ridden by William Fox-Pitt) out of the dam of last year’s Badminton winner and individual European Champion (Lordships Graffalo – ridden by Ros Canter).
His sire, Chilli Morning, was the first stallion to win Badminton, when ridden by William Fox-Pitt in 2015. The partnership also won individual Bronze medals at the European Championships in 2013
and the World Equestrian Games in 2014. Chilli Morning also won Bramham international Horse Trials on three occasions. His progeny are now also reaching top ten placings at 5 star level elite level in the sport, with Chilli Knight winning Bicton International Horse Trials in 2021 and Jalapeno III finishing 6th at Badminton in 2023, both with Gemma Stevens.
His dam Cornish Queen was bred by Olympic Gold Medallist Bridget Parker, by the proven top eventing sire Rock King, out of the 4 star (now 5 star) Elite broodmare Cornish Faer who was sired by the legendary Ben Faerie. Cornish Faer completed Badminton and Burghley with Bridget’s daughter Katie Burton and was long-listed for the Atlanta Olympics. Cornish Faer’s dam, Tregea, was a maternal half sister to Bridget Parker’s 1972 Olympic Gold medal ride Cornish Gold.
Cornish Queen produced two 5 star event horses, Pencos Crown Jewel by Jumbo, and Lordships Graffalo by Grafenstolz, who both finished in the top ten at Badminton in 2023, ridden and produced by Ros Canter. Cornish Queen also produced the Parco daughter, Lordships Parc Royale, produced to 3 star level as a young horse by Ros Canter, before becoming a broodmare.
Apart from his exceptional pedigree for eventing, Pencos Arctic King has a lovely trainable temperament, good conformation, movement and athleticism, with a high percentage of Thoroughbred blood (73.44%).
Pencos Arctic King covered his first mares in July 2023 with 100% fertility, and we are excitedly awaiting his first foals!
He will be available at stud until mid July 2024 before returning home to compete.
He will begin his BE competition career in the latter part of 2024, due to the difficult weather and ground conditions in the early part of the season.
